A few guidelines...mom does NOT like horror films or anything remotely scary. So that means no Zombie movies (damn) and no John Carpenter flicks (double damn). She suggested action or comedy but it might be time for a black and white classic. Movies from any decade are welcome. We're not into heavy drama most of the time, although I'll certainly consider it. Foreign films (with subtitles, NOT dubbed) are more than welcome).
I'll make a choice on Wednesday and let you know who the lucky winner is.
Thanks y'all!

You can't go wrong with Muriel's Wedding!

Bringing Up Baby.
What about a Cary Grant? The Awful Truth is so much fun! Or Indiscreet.
You can't go wrong with Cary...
Everything is Illuminated. or All About Eve.
Heavenly Creatures is a definite no-no.
The Awful Truth is a great film and is a lot of fun.
If you can find Ruggles of Red Gap (dir. Leo McCarey) it is a hilarious screwball comedy from the era of the great screwball comedies. However, it can be hard to find.
If you can't find that then I suggest Mildred Pierce. The mother daughter relationship is over the top melodramatic. I love that film.
There is a wonderful old Peter Sellers movie called "I'm All Right Jack." You both might like it if you can find it on DVD.
Wow! Look at all the possibilities! I'll have to keep them in mind for future reference. Unfortunately after discussion with the mother, she's decided she doesn't want to do an "old" movie this time around. She wants something a bit more recent. Funny, action, you get the idea.
To make up for it, I'm going to put the names of all the people who recommended a great classic into a hat and pick one at random and they'll win a fabulous one of a kind (um...yeah...) postcard.
Okay, in light of your Mum's change of heart... The film I enjoyed the most in recent weeks (other than There Will Be Blood) was Breakfast on Pluto. I think Asterisk reviewed it on Such As They Are...
